Well hello, and thank you for being here!
My name is Katherine. I’ve done a lot of living off the beaten path: bartending on Bourbon Street, volunteering with dolphins, running an orphanage in Mexico. I tend to make big decisions quickly, and labor over small ones for way too long.
I am now married and have a two-year old son, and we recently moved to the D.C. area after seven years in Grand Cayman. I am a special education teacher by trade, but am only teaching my son for now.
This blog is probably going to be a mishmash of past stories, and what I’m going through now, which is dominated by health issues.
I found out seven days before learning I was pregnant that I lived 32 years will Celiac Disease and didn’t know it. After my son was born, I went in for what I thought was postpartum carpal tunnel, but was actually Psoriatic Arthritis.
The latest health scenarios included an emergency gallbladder surgery, and now a partially torn meniscus.
While I feel pretty defeated right now, I’m also so grateful that I found a babysitter last week! It truly takes a village, and I will be reaching out for a ton of help this week. Here’s hoping that the 7-10 days of prescribed rest allows my knee to heal itself.
Until next time,
Kat
